Godfather and commander the half-demon Conrad Weller was born in the Great Demon Kingdom. He is devoted to his godson Yuri, the current demon king, and still remains an above average sword fighter. Conrad was born the middle son to Cecilie von Spitzberg (mother, demon) and Dan Hiri (father, human). Cecilie also had two others sons with a different father than Conrad's named Gwendal von Voltaire (older) and Wolfram von Bielefeld (younger). Conrad spent most of his younger years spending time with his mother and two brothers and later traveling around learning sword fighting with his father. Conrad is looked down upon by Gwendal for being a half-demon and later Wolfram learns to look down on Conrad also despite his growing up idealizing him.
Conrad became a commander of one of the squadrons of the Great Demon Kings army when he was still at a young age and quickly proved himself to be a fantastic swordsman. About this same time he fell in love with the demon Lady Julia von Wincott who unfortunately was already engaged to Adelbert von Grantz, a respected and proper demon citizen. Although Lady Julia seemed to care for Conrad she remained devoted to her husband to be. Tragically the Lady Julia is killed while Conrad is away fighting a war leaving only her amulet, a turquoise stone shaped like a teardrop, and her peaceful hopes for the future behind. Conrad devastated at his loss carries her amulet with him at all times and rarely smiles.
Not long after Julia's death the Great One asks Conrad to carry Julia's soul in the form of a bottle to Earth. Julia's soul was to become the next demon king, housed on Earth to protect it from treachery in the Demon Kingdom. Conrad was to place Julia's soul into a child of one of the Demon King of Earth's, Bob's, subordinates. Bob gives the task to Shoma Shibuya, Yuri Shibuya's father, thus ensuring the future King in his new home. Shoma has only one demand from Conrad, that he never show a sad face to any of his family. Conrad takes his request to heart and later when riding with Yuri's mother Miko Shibuya he is all smiles as he tells her that Yuri means July in his land.
Sixteen some odd years later Conrad finally meets Yuri Shibuya, now a teenager, and proceeds to rescue him for the first of many times. He becomes his sworn protector and devoted subject often giving Yuri advice in times of trouble. Despite his devotion to Yuri Conrad betrays his country and joins the main human opposition's side. Although he appears to have severed all ties with the demon kingdom in reality Conrad joined the humans to find and take back four boxes which can destroy the world if activated. After talking with Yuri Conrad decides once again to join his godson and remain at his side from then on.
